LYNETTE ADJEI MBE FRSA - Admin, Marketing and Communications

Lynette describes herself as a Creative and a Facilitator.  She has over 30 years of experience in the voluntary sector and local government, and a portfolio of successful initiatives to her name.

She entered the world of Arts Administration during the thriving years of Black Arts in London with organisations such as Jenako Arts, Adzido Pan African Dance Ensemble and Black Mime Theatre, before moving to Shrewsbury and working for 5 years as the Marketing Officer of the Shrewsbury Music Hall.

After moving to Birmingham in 2000 she worked for Birmingham City Council delivering campaigns to recruit adopters and foster carers for the city’s most vulnerable children.  She was responsible for building significant partnerships and for devising and running groundbreaking initiatives to achieve notable recruitment success over nearly 16 years.

In 2018, she took voluntary redundancy to look after her disabled adult son.  Although most of her time is spent caring for and advocating for her son’s needs, she is passionate about the arts and about creating experiences and events, so takes opportunities to dabble when they come her way.  Recent projects have been focussed on involving, promoting and curating work by artists of Sierra Leonean, Nigerian and Caribbean heritage.

She is a Volunteer Community Ambassador for 2 national charities, Meningitis Now and The Sickle Cell Society, actively involved in fundraising and also in raising awareness through presentations and media engagement.

She also currently serves on Public Health England’s national Sickle Cell & Thalassemia Service Outreach Advisory Group, serves on the Board of Hall Green Youth, and on the PCC of her church St Peter’s Hall Green.
